The Asia's Largest Banyan Tree at Mallikpur is a natural wonder that has amazed visitors for centuries.

Located in Mallikpur village of Kaliganj Upazila, about 25 kilometers from Jhenaidah town, this magnificent tree covers an incredible 11 acres (33 bighas) of land.

According to a 1984 BBC survey, this banyan tree surpassed the famous Great Banyan at Kolkata Botanical Garden to earn the title of Asia's largest.

What makes this banyan tree truly remarkable is how it grew from a single sapling.

Around 200-300 years ago, a small banyan plant sprouted on the wall of a well belonging to a potter family in Bethuli village.

Over the centuries, the tree sent down aerial roots that took hold in the soil and grew into new trunks.

The original mother tree has long since died, but it gave birth to 45-52 subsidiary trees that are all connected underground, creating what looks like an entire forest from a single source.

Today, the tree has over 345 roots grounded in the earth and 38 hanging aerial roots still making their way down.
